Mass storage drives are not the only USB devices that can be connected to a computer. You can connect numerous devices to your computer, via USB, from mice or keyboards to satellite receivers. USBDeview can help you keep track of any USB devices that are plugged into your computer. It provides a huge amount of information for each device and it allows you to disable and enable them, uninstall individual devices and much more.

USBDeview is offered free of charge. It can be used on Windows 2000 or any later versions, including various Server editions. The application's setup package is less than one MB, so it can be downloaded and installed in no time.

The user interface displays a list of plugged in devices. If you connect a new device, it will show up in the list immediately. Each device is presented together with a broad range of information, like device type, serial number, vendor and product IDs and much more. You can use different options, located on a toolbar, to enable or disable selected devices, copy their information to the clipboard or bring up properties windows.

More options can be found in the top menus. You can use them to change drive letters, for mass storage devices, hide or show columns, perform speed tests, generate HTML reports and much more. Some of these options can be found in a pop-up menu, after right clicking a listed device. This gives you the possibility of performing certain actions, like opening a device in Windows Explorer or RegEdit, change drive letters and others.

The application can be minimized as a system tray icon, so you can retrieve information about a plugged in device at any time, in just a few seconds. You can also set it to show only connected devices or entire USB hubs.

Pros

You can retrieve a large amount of information about your plugged in USB devices. The application allows you to perform various actions, including speed tests, disabling or uninstalling devices and more.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. USBDeview can provide you with all the information you need about your connected USB devices.
